And to be thankful to Allah is a tremendous worship.
You’re being thankful to Allah.
Allah said what means?
And be thankful to him.
And Allah the glorified said, and few from my slaves are thankful.
And the head of this worship of being thankful is the tawheed of Allah.
So Allah the one who created you.
And he is the one who has provided for you.
And he is the one that has given you life and will cause you to die.
And he is the one who will resurrect you after your death to judge you.
And every single blessing is from Allah.
And Allah’s creation is from the causes of that.
And as Allah said what means? And whatever you have from blessings is from Allah.
So he is worthy of being worshipped alone without any partners.
And it is not permissible to worship anyone along with Allah.
With any type of worship whatsoever.
Like sacrificing for other than him or making dua to other than him.
Or seeking refuge in other than him.
Or seeking or having reliance and trust in other than him.
And tawakul is to have reliance in your heart upon Allah.
And this is reliance upon bringing good towards you or saving you from evil or harm.
Both in this life or in the hereafter.
And this tawakul necessitates that we also act upon or implement the correct means to achieve what we want.
So this is the tawheed of Allah.
And this is Allah’s right upon His servants.
This right of Allah which most of the people have fallen short in.
Most of the people have wasted this.
And Imam Al-Bukhari and Muslim both have narrated this in their authentic books.
That Mu’adh ibn Jabal who narrated from the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam.
The messenger of Allah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said to him, O Mu’adh.
So Mu’adh said, yes I’m here O messenger of Allah.
So the messenger of Allah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, do you know what Allah’s right is upon His slaves?
And what is the rights of the slaves upon Allah?
So Mu’adh answered, Allah and His messenger know best.
So the messenger of Allah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, the right of Allah upon His slaves is
that they worship Him alone without associating any partners with Him.
And the right of the slaves upon Allah if they fulfill that
that no one will be punished from those who worship Allah without associating partners with Him.
So it’s obligatory upon all the servants that they fulfill this right of Allah.
And they do not associate any partners with Allah.
Even if this person or even if this object of worship was a prophet or an angel.
As Allah said what means in Surah Ali Imran
And they do not order you to take the angels and the prophets as lords.
Do they order you with disbelief after you were Muslimun, after you had submitted?
So if it was that somebody supplicated or made dua to a prophet or an angel other than Allah
that he has fallen into shirk, he has fallen into associating partners with Allah and great kufr.
So what about those who worship or make dua and supplicate to other than prophets and angels who are less in status than them?
So it’s necessary that we be aware of that.
And it’s obligatory that we protect and liberate our Muslim brothers from those corrupt beliefs.
For indeed many of the Muslims due to their ignorance
and due to the callers of misguidance and innovation amongst them
we find that many of these Muslims they call upon other than Allah.
So they worship the awliya, the righteous ones
and they turn towards those who are dead in their graves
and they ask upon them other than Allah
or they ask from them along with Allah.
They seek from them to be pardoned and to have good health
and to be cured from different diseases
or they ask them to provide them wealth in their provisions
or they ask these people in the graves for aid over their enemies.
It’s even that some of them ask these people of the graves to save them from the hellfire.
Glorified is Allah the most great.
For indeed this is major shirk with Allah.
And we see that the people of the earth they worship many different types of things.
Many different types of false gods.
Many different types.
So Allah has guided you to tawheed.
But some of the Muslims have fallen into resembling other than them.
And they have ended up or fallen into worshipping other than Allah.
By supplications or other than that from other types of worship.
So praise Allah due to this tremendous blessing.
So praise Allah due to this tremendous blessing that you’re in.
And be thankful to Him for it.
Because this is from the necessary thanks that we have.
Imam Abu Al-Ailiya from amongst the tabi’in, the students of the Sahaba said,
I don’t know which of these two blessings is more great.
That Allah guided me to Islam from amongst the other religions.
Or that Allah has guided me to the sunnah and protected me or kept me away from the ahwa.
The innovations and desires.
So these two blessings are tremendous.
That Allah first guided you to Islam and tawheed.
And kept you away from shirk and the other religions.
And secondly that Allah had guided you to the sunnah.
And protected you, kept you away from the ahwa, the innovations and desires.
So it’s obligatory that we are thankful to Allah the Mighty and Majestic.
And that thankfulness is through the tawheed of Him.
And with following the message of Allah, His Prophet.
Secondly, we should have thankfulness to the creation.
And the most tremendous of this type of thankfulness is thankfulness to our parents.
So our parents have a great right over us.
So Allah said what means that you be thankful to me and your parents and to me is your return.
And Allah said what means and your Lord has decreed that you will not worship other than Him.
And that you will treat your parents with goodness.
So He made being thankfulness and mentioning the right of the parents directly after mentioning His own right and His own deservingness of thanks.
So being good to your parents is from the most tremendous types of worship.
And this is being good to them is from the most tremendous types of obedience.
And especially if they get older in age.
And the mother is even more right.
A man asked the Prophet Sallallahu alayhi wasallam and the Prophet Sallallahu alayhi wasallam said
So the sahabi asked the Prophet Sallallahu alayhi wasallam who is the person who has the most right for me to be good to them or be a good companion for them.
So the Prophet Sallallahu alayhi wasallam answered your mother.
So the sahabi asked then who?
So the Prophet Sallallahu alayhi wasallam answered again your mother.
Then the sahabi asked a third time.
So the Prophet Sallallahu alayhi wasallam answered your mother.
And then the sahabi asked again and then who?
Then the Prophet Sallallahu alayhi wasallam said and then your father.
So this shows the emphasis on the rights of the mother.
And regretfully we see that it is spread amongst many of the Muslims that they are not good or that they are even evil to their parents.
Either in their statements or their actions.
And being bad to one’s parents is from the major sins.
May Allah rectify our affairs and their affairs.
Even if the parent or the father is a kafir and not Muslim.
Then you would not obey him in his call to you or his dawah to you to commit shirk.
But it is still necessary upon you that you be good to him in companionship.
Like Allah said in Surah Luqman what it means.
Even if the two of them strive against you that you do shirk with me in that which you do not have knowledge.
Then do not obey them.
And have a good beautiful companionship with them in this worldly life.
This is while they are both people of shirk.
And they are both calling you to do shirk.
And they are striving, they are calling you with effort.
Then you do not follow them upon that falsehood.
But you still maintain a good relationship with them in this worldly life.
So if that is the situation with the parents are not Muslim then what about if your parents are Muslim?
Then indeed their rights upon you is tremendous.
So this is the second type of thankfulness that you should establish.
This thankfulness to your parents.
And it is a very long and important topic.
The third thankfulness that we will mention is thankfulness to who has taught you good and has guided you or has pointed you towards goodness.
The Imams Al-Nasa’i, Abu Dawud and other than them have narrated
from the hadith of Abu Hurairah that the Master of Allah said
One is not thankful to Allah if he is not thankful to the people.
And other than him also narrated
in his book as Sunan
in an authentic chain of narration to Ibn Umar
that the Master of Allah said
and whoever has done good for you then suffice him.
And if you do not find that which would suffice him or that which would return the favor
then supplicate for him.
Until the point that you feel that you have sufficed him or that you have returned the favor.
And this encompasses everyone who has done something good for you.
That you be thankful to him.
And this word men, whoever, then this is from the words that are general.
This is from the words that if the Prophet says this, men, then this is general.
It is not for a specific person, this is whoever.
So it is general from two angles.
So any type of goodness in your religion, in your worldly life
even if somebody clears a space for you in a sitting or something as simple as that
or clears a path for you to make room for you
or even in a parking lot if somebody has made a space for you easily
So what about favors that are even greater than these types of normal interactions of goodness?
So whoever has done for you any type of goodness then be thankful to him.
So this third type of who we should be thankful to
whoever has benefited us or helped us in our religion
from our teachers upon the Sunnah
and those who have called us to it
and taught us the Sunnah
so they have a right over us
and whoever strives to spread good
then we are thankful to them
and we supplicate for them
because Allah loves that deed which they have done
and that deed which they did is calling the people to the Sunnah
and warning them from innovations
so upon them is a right
so they have a right upon us
So I thank Allah firstly
and then I thank whoever played a part or had a role in establishing this sitting
and this visit
and has established these lessons and these periods of study that we will have
both tomorrow and the day after tomorrow
and this speech that we are doing now
this is an opening for these lessons that we will cover
so I ask Allah or I am thankful to Allah the Almighty and Majestic
and I thank Sheikh Abu Uthman Muhammad Al-Anjari
due to his striving and his great efforts
and his continuous repetitive efforts
with you all and with other than you
across the world
in calmness and ease
and without great publicity and great loudness
we hope that he is seeking the face of Allah in doing that
so we ask Allah to accept from him
and to reward him with tremendous reward
and he, meaning Sheikh Muhammad Al-Anjari, is the cause or the reason for us to come about knowing you brothers
since the year 2005
and this is our fourth visit to you
and I am alone in it, I am not with him
the previous visit we were all with him
and in this visit I am with you
then I thank our great brother, Ustadh Muhammad Kamal
and then I thank the Ustadh Sheikh Muhammad Kamal
the one who has continually followed up for this
both by calling and with messages
in order to bring about this sitting or these lessons
and I thank my brother Adam
and he thanks me for translating
because I came from Kuwait this morning
so that I can translate
even though he is busy with different things
and he thanks all of you brothers
so today is the last day of this day of work that you have had
and you have different responsibilities
and you have left those other responsibilities you have and been patient to come here
and you came to this sitting
so we ask Allah to increase the reward for you all
and to bless you all
and that he blesses you all in your families
and your wealth
and your deeds
and your lives
Allah bless you all
Allah loves praise
Allah has praised himself in more than a verse
Surah Al Fatiha, awwaluhal hamd
and Surah Al Fatiha in the beginning of it is
in which Allah said what means all praise is for Allah, Lord of all that exists
so we praise Allah for his blessings
and we praise Allah due to the completeness and perfectness of his names and attributes
so he is far above his creation
raised above his throne
he is the all hearing, the all seeing
he is the all knowing, the all wise
he is the all kind and all merciful
like Allah said what means
and for Allah is the most beautiful names
so call upon him with them
so Allah loves praise
and due to that it is legislated for a Muslim
to say that when he finishes from eating or drinking
that the Muslim should say all praise is for Allah
and this is from the causes for Allah to be pleased with him
the master of Allah said what means
indeed Allah will be pleased with a slave
who eats food and then praises him for it
and drinks a drink and then praises Allah for it
and the meaning of that is when the Muslim finishes from their food or from their drink that they praise Allah
like Allah loves excuses
due to that Allah has sent down the books and has sent his messengers
to call the people to worshipping him
and to establish the proofs upon them
like Allah said what means
and we were not ones who punished until after we sent messengers
like Allah said what means
so that the people will not have any argument against Allah
after the sending of the messengers
so due to this there is no sin and there is no punishment until after the knowledge has been conveyed and clarified to someone
like Allah said in this verse from Surah An-Nisa
whoever goes against the messenger after the proofs has become clear to him
and follows a path other than the path of the believers
we leave him to that which he has chosen
and we would roast him in hellfire what a terrible destination
so this punishment
is for whoever has opposed the messenger
and has opposed the path of the believers
who are the believers in this verse
they are the noble companions of the messenger of Allah
because they were the believers during the time of the revelation
so this punishment and this threat
is for whoever opposes the sunnah
and opposes the way of the companions of the messenger of Allah
after the knowledge has reached them
and after the clear proofs and evidence has been established for them
so if he continues upon that transgression
then he is deserving of that punishment and that threat
like Allah said what means
so beware those who have opposed him in his order
that they will be affected by fitna, turmoil
or that they will be afflicted by a painful torment
so what’s obligatory once the knowledge and sunnah has reached someone
that they answer to it and that they follow it
and as for before that before this proofs have reached him
then whoever does something and he is ignorant of the ruling
then Allah will excuse him
so it is not permissible to go against the sunnah
with a way of thinking
or a statement of a scholar
or the normal practice of a certain land
indeed if there is something that has come in the sunnah
then we say we have heard and obeyed
so Allah loves praise and He loves excuses
and due to this excuse Allah has sent the messengers
and Allah has encouraged us towards knowledge and seeking knowledge
and that we spread it amongst the people
so that we can strive to bring about guidance to the people and as a mercy upon them
so that they may know the truth and act upon it
and now I will go back to surah al-fatiha
that which we mention or that which we recite in every rakah
in our obligatory prayers and our voluntary ones
and even in the funeral prayer after the first takbeer
and it is the umm al-quran
and it is the sab’u mathani
there are seven verses and they are repeated
so Allah opened it with alhamd
by saying all praise is for Allah, Lord of the aalameen, all that exists
and His statement
Lord of all of creation
that He is the Lord of all of the creations with His blessings
and the person is created with a love for whoever has done good for them
and the most tremendous that has done good to anyone is Allah
so in this verse is an affirmation of the necessity or the obligation of having love for Allah
and having love for the messenger of Allah, this is from our love for Allah
because Allah is the one who sent him
and likewise the love for the believers with each other
the love of the prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam
and the love of the believers loving each other
this is all types of love for the sake of Allah
in which Allah’s face is sought
for indeed whoever loves Allah in truth
then he loves whatever Allah loves
and Allah loves whoever
so whoever loves Allah then they likewise love whomever Allah loves
from the prophets and the righteous people
the righteous ones from the believers
this is love for the sake of Allah
for the sake of Allah, for Allah
not love due to anything of the worldly matters
or natural love that you might have
like the normal love that people might have amongst each other
then Allah said arrahman irrahim, the most merciful, the beneficent
so this affirms the attribute of mercy for Allah
and this guides you or leads you to having hope
and that you return and turn to Allah
and that you repent if you had committed a sin
for indeed the master of Allah sallallahu alayhi wasallam said what means
indeed Allah wrote something
and it is with him
with the throne
so Allah wrote indeed my mercy precedes my anger
so if you know about Allah’s mercy then you would be hopeful for it
and you would turn to Allah the mighty and majestic
and that he would do righteous actions upon love and hope
and the third verse owner of the day of judgement
meaning the day of resurrection
and the day of judgement that is the day in which the resurrection occurs
and the people are brought out from their graves
and the slaves are judged for their deeds
if the deeds were good then they will have goodness
and if their deeds were evil then they will find all this bad
and on the day of judgement will be the haud
the pool of the messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wasallam
in which all of his ummah, all of the Muslims will go to
to drink from it
whoever drinks from it will not be thirsty again ever
and it will be filled by
and there will be two entrances that will be flowing from the water of Jannah
and many hadith have come in description of this pool
and this pool is from that which the companions of the prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam
have believed in likewise the rest of the people of Sunnah
and from this ummah, from the Muslims will be those who are prevented
and blocked from drinking from that pool
and this is due to what they have innovated into the religion
from innovations and desires
so the slave should fear from being prevented or blocked from drinking from the pool
so he must strive in this worldly life by following the Sunnah
and be wearing from bid’ah, innovation in the religion
and that he should supplicate to Allah that Allah blesses him to be from those who drink from this pool
and in the plains or the area of the resurrection will be the scales, the mizan
a real actual scale
and no one knows how it will actually be except Allah
it will have two sides
in which the deeds are weighed
and the scrolls which the deeds are written on will be weighed
and even the servants or the slaves will be weighed
and this is from those fearful situations
because some of the people then their deeds or their side which weighs their good deeds will be heavy
but other people their evil deeds will outweigh the good ones
so strive to have your side of good deeds be heavier
and the heaviest thing, the greatest thing for that side of the scale is actualizing the tohid of Allah
and thereafter the rest of the good deeds
and from them, from these good deeds is having good character
because indeed it is from the heaviest of deeds in the scales
likewise on the day of resurrection will be the sirat, the pathway over the hellfire
and it is a real path
the people will pass over it
and it is over the hellfire
and the speed that they go over this path or this bridge will be based on the amount of their deeds
the prophets on that day
they will all be on the opposite side of this sirat, of this bridge or this path
their dua or their supplication will be, oh Allah make them safe, make them safe
and other than that from the affairs that will happen on the day of resurrection
belief in all of this is encompassed in the statement of Allah, the owner of the day of resurrection
so this should remind you of having fear
so the first three verses of surat al-fatiha
so in this first verse has love
ar-rahman ar-rahim reminds us to have hope
and that Allah is the owner of the day of resurrection or the day of judgment reminds us to have fear
so with these three affairs is how our worship is established
so the Muslim, the believer, he is between and lives his life between having hope and having fear
so we ask Allah that he guides us and you to correct worship
and he keeps us firm, us and you firm upon the truth
and he keeps us and yourselves far away from the paths of going astray and misguidance
like Allah said what means and this is my straight path so follow it
and do not follow the other paths
which would cause you to split away from my path
the great scholar of tafsir Mujahid said
who is the student of the sahabi Ibn Abbas r.a
and do not follow the other paths means
the bid’a, the innovations and the doubts
we ask Allah for aid and success for all of us
do you know that tomorrow after maghrib and after isha
insha’Allah tomorrow after maghrib and after isha
and also the other lessons
the original in it is the book of the belief of Imam al-Bukhari
and what is being researched in it is the book of the belief of Imam al-Bukhari
and what is being researched in it is the book of the belief of Imam al-Bukhari
so in the coming lessons insha’Allah we will read from the creed of Imam al-Bukhari
and will branch off with any other beneficial or supporting issues that we see appropriate insha’Allah
and all of this is from striving to achieve goodness and cooperating upon it
so we will end with this or we will answer some questions
because the time is 47 minutes
we will end the questions tomorrow after the lesson
thank you
