the goodness that you have in this life is a test
so the sheik explained that that which is necessary when in the times of hardship and difficulty is patience
is patience and that which is necessary during the trials or tests of ease and goodness is thankfulness
so that is the test that when we are in those situations of goodness of ease so this is the way of the Sunni that he is between these two affairs
he is patient in the times of difficulty and hardship that he is tested with and he is thankful and grateful to Allah during those times of goodness and ease
and that is his test in those situations
so the Muslim is tested with hardship and ease in sickness and health and wealth and poverty and strength and weakness
all of that is a test for the human being
in strength he is thankful, in weakness he is patient and pleased with what Allah has decreed and he shows the reasons for goodness
so what the sheik had also mentioned earlier is that
the Sunni, the Muslim recognizes that all of these tests whether they are tests of ease and goodness or difficulty and hardship
that all of this he has the Iman and the I’tikad, the belief, the faith and his belief firmly that it’s all in accordance with the hikmah or wisdom of Allah the Most High
so the Sunni or the Muslim will find themselves in these situations throughout his life
sometimes they will be times of wealth and other times be situations of poverty
sometimes he’ll be in a situation of good health, sometimes he’ll be in situations of sickness or disease
and all of these situations are tests from Allah according to the wisdom of Allah
so when he is faced with these difficulties and these hardships he is patient and he is pleased with the decree of Allah upon him
and when he is experiencing goodness and ease then he is no doubt thankful and appreciative to Allah for all of those situations
with his sickness, his health, his wealth and his poverty
all of these situations that pass through a person but a person is faced with Iman and Taqwa
and that is why Allah the Most High says
those who believe and fear Allah
so Iman is firm in the belief that Allah the Most High has created creation
and He is not an entity but He is by the command of Allah and by the decree of Allah
so here Iman is by the decree of Allah and by the Taqwa that is faced with these conditions
from health and healthiness to sickness and pain
so he changes with these conditions
so the sheikh also mentioned before that the Muslim continuously
he always implements the means that are suitable or appropriate in each situation
so the Muslim continues to strive in situations of difficulty and he continues to strive in situations of ease
whether he finds himself in an economic difficulty or a situation of sickness
then he is always striving to implement that which is necessary in that situation that he is in
so the Sunni is always in a situation of having Iman and Taqwa
sheikh, how do you prefer to describe Taqwa in this context?
Taqwa is to submit to the worship of Allah for what Allah has commanded
yes, so the sheikh said we’ll describe Taqwa
and we’ve covered the issue of Taqwa in many lessons
but he said to submit yourself in the worship of Allah
submitting yourself in the worship of Allah
so the Sunni is always in a situation of Taqwa and Iman
always in a situation of Taqwa and Iman
striving in that which he should be striving for
whether he is in situations of difficulty or in situations of ease
situations of health and wellness or situations of sickness and disease
situations of poverty or situations of wealth
the Sunni, the Muslim is always striving between having Taqwa
and having his Iman implementing the means that he needs to be implementing
yes
so when a Muslim achieves Iman and Taqwa in the changes in life
it does not mean that he does not rejoice or grieve or grieve
no
because the person is steadfast in his Iman
head like a mountain
and if he was, his eyes would shed tears
and if he was, he would grieve
and if he was, he would rejoice
so these phenomena are natural
Allah says, let them rejoice
the Prophet says, the heart does not grieve
but it is steadfast in the Iman that the Prophet and his companions had
so this is one issue and this is another
so when you grieve
whether with tears
or when you grieve from a disease
or when you grieve from a loss
or when you rejoice for goodness
this is a natural thing
but the Iman and the heart is steadfast
steadfast in the true Iman
that the Prophet and his companions had
so when what happened to the Prophet, what happened in Uhud
and his head broke
and what happened to his companions from a murder
he is steadfast
so the Shaykh explained
that in each and every situation that the believer is in
whether they are situations of ease
or situations of difficulty
that the Muslim is Thabit
he is steadfast and firm upon his Iman
and his Taqwa
like mountains
this is the description of how the Shaykh described the firmness of the believer
in his Iman and his Taqwa
regardless of whatever type of situation he is tested in
and he said that there is no harm or no blame
whatsoever in the different emotional situations that you might feel
because these are natural
whether they are emotions of happiness
when good things happen and ease comes to you
or whether it is sadness
when difficulties affect you
even if you reach the state of crying
due to the difficulties and hardships
then there is not a harm in that
because these are natural things that we are created with
but
as long as the Sunni is firm and steadfast in his Iman
and his Taqwa
so Allah mentioned in the Quran
so be happy
and the messenger of Allah mentioned that
indeed the heart becomes sad
when his son had passed away
so these are natural situations
even if you find yourself crying
in a situation of difficulty such as disease or sickness
then there is no harm
sorry to disturb you
as the Prophet said to Aisha
the Prophet said to Aisha
when she was ill
peace be upon him
so the messenger of Allah as the Shaykh pointed out
he complained to Aisha
pointing out to Aisha
like oh my head is hurting so much
when he was in his
the sickness that he died from
peace be upon him
but there is no contradiction in that
to the firmness of his Iman
the firmness of his faith
and the firmness of his Taqwa of Allah
peace be upon him
so with your happiness or your sadness
you don’t go beyond bounds
or leave that frame
that the Sunni is upon
that Iman, the faith that the Sunni is upon
like how the messenger of Allah
and his noble companions were upon
and the Shaykh gave the other example
of the battle of Badr
when the messenger of Allah
he was afflicted with what he was afflicted with
so for example his tooth was broken
and his head was cut open
peace be upon him
and many of the companions died that day
and were killed during the battle
so no doubt there was sadness
and there was grieving, there was difficulty
but that did not shake their Iman
they remained steadfast and firm in Iman
and did not let their emotions go beyond
that which is legislated and necessary from the Sharia
and that is why the Prophet, peace be upon him,
did not let his emotions go beyond
that which is legislated and necessary from the Sharia
and that is why the Prophet, peace be upon him,
did not let his emotions go beyond
that which is legislated and necessary from the Sharia
and that is why the Prophet, peace be upon him,
did not let his emotions go beyond
that which is legislated and necessary from the Sharia
so the Prophet, peace be upon him,
did not let his emotions go beyond
that which is legislated and necessary from the Sharia
and that is why the Prophet, peace be upon him,
did not let his emotions go beyond
forward his punishment into this life.
And if Allah wants bad for a slave, then he delays the punishment until the hereafter.
So everything, as we mentioned, every trial, every test, whether it is that which is difficult
and hardship, then that could be from the good that Allah wants for you.
And everything, of course, is in accordance with Allah’s wisdom.
So if you are faced with difficulties and hardships in this life, that could very well
be from the mercy and kindness and generosity of Allah for you.
And for that, if a Muslim believes that Allah does not punish except for the good for his slave,
and if it is apparent against that, then he knows that Allah is the most Merciful of the Merciful,
and that Allah is Wise.
So everything that afflicts a person while he is firm in his faith, while he fears Allah
in joy or in grief, but he is on faith and on righteousness, then Allah will give him good
in this life and in the hereafter.
So the sheikh mentioned that the believer recognizes that whatever Allah has decreed
for his slaves is that which is good.
Whatever that Allah decrees for the slaves, the believers, that is what is good for them.
So when the slave has this correct Iman, when he knows that his Iman is firm in this way,
then he knows that no doubt his end result will be good by the permission of Allah.
He will know that his end result is good by the permission of Allah.
As Allah said in the Quran, for them is the good news in this life and the hereafter.
So in whatever situation that you are in, no matter how difficult it might feel or seem
at the time, if your Iman is correct, recognizing that Allah decrees what he has decreed based
upon his wisdom, and that Allah is arham al rahimin, that he is the most merciful of
anyone who shows mercy, then the believer will no doubt have a good end inshallah.
